WWE officially announced that Cody Rhodes has been released from his WWE contract:

WWE has come to terms on the release of Cody Rhodes as of today, May 22, 2016. WWE wishes Rhodes the best in all his future endeavors.

Cody Rhodes, who had been working for the company since 2006, wrote the following on Twitter saying goodbye:

Neville, Wade Barrett and “Arrow” star Stephen Ammell were among the first to tweet about Cody Rhodes release from WWE.

Neville tweeted “We may have had our differences in the ring, but he did more for me than he’ll ever know. Thank you Cody. I’ll truly miss you mate.”

Wade Barrett tweeted “So many of my fave times in WWE were with Cody Rhodes, both in front of & behind the camera. It takes balls to walk away, hats off.”

Ammell tweeted: “Thinking of my good friend @PrinceCGR today. Whatever’s next, he will excel. Cody: Thanks for taking me on a grand adventure!”
